You find some weird shit when you randomly watch buried titles on streaming services, but this was one of the best we've ever come across. After finding the made-for-TV cautionary tale classic (in my mind, now, at least) Cocaine: One Man's Seduction (1983), I just had to watch it.
It's like an after-school special for adults, a mediocre budget for TV at the time, and a cast with some surprising names. The lead, a down-on-his-luck working stiff who descends into the dark world of casual cocaine addiction, is played by Western veteran Dennis Weaver with an opinionated teenage son played by a young and bright-eyed James Spader. Jeffrey Tambor even shows up and no, he never had hair, not even in 1983.
